Description

Stem mostly undeveloped, soft-haired. Flowers in clusters, petals 1.5 to 2.5 cm long, about 2 times larger than the calyx. It grows in warmer areas on ruderal sites, on saline soils, among shrubs on the banks. It is a medicinal and ornamental plant of Asian origin. It was planted in Europe as early as the 9th century.
