Description

The plant is stiff-haired and overgrown with star-shaped hairs. Calyx bristly, inflated at fruit ripeness. The Eurasian Mediterranean species, which is almost worldwide today, is widespread especially in warm areas. It grows on cultivated soils, sand, saline soils and in various ruderal communities.
