Description
It grows 20 to 30 m in height and 10 to 15 m in width. Crown broadly conical, older domed to globose, uniform, dense. Bark of young shoots reddish-brown to greenish-brown, older dark gray-brown, furrowed. Branches wide open, older pendants. Leaves round to heart-shaped (3-10 cm), dark green; below light bluish green. The vascular corners on the underside of the leaves are yellowish hairy and there are three to ten flowers in each inflorescence. Durable, soil-adaptable species, it tolerates drought, wind and urban environments well. The preparations from lime are a popular home remedy for colds, coughs, to promote sweating at elevated body temperature and to increase resistance. They are also used for sedation, drainage of water in diseases of the kidneys and bladder, and as a mild remedy for relieving cramps.
