Description

It is a strongly grown plant, up to 60 cm tall. Baskets up to 5 mm wide, in a rich lattice inflorescence. Marginal flowers small, usually not exceeding the sheath leaves. The tufted stalk is three times shorter than the fruit. A very common adventitious species, in large numbers on fallow lands, in vineyards and in ruderal habitats from the lowlands to the Montana belt.
