Description
The flowers are star-shaped and pink. When a plant blooms, it dies, sprouting many new daughter plants that can be broken off and replanted. Common houseleeks also grow on their own. They also thrive well in the hot sun and in drought, which is why they survived even if planted on the roof.
It is an edible plant, its young fleshy leaves are an excellent addition to green salads, and you can also squeeze juice from them and prepare a refreshing drink. It is used similarly to aloe vera, except that its effect is slightly weaker. It has an astringent effect (tightens and softens the skin), so the juice of the plant helps with burns, insect bites, wounds, warts and degreasing the ear cavity.
