Description
It is very variable in growth. Forms that are underwater or thrive in running water have striped leaves, in forms that grow on land or in standing water, the leaves are wrongly ovate. At the top of the stem, the leaves are more densely clustered. Circumpolar species, common in stagnant and slow-flowing waters and in drained wetlands from the lowlands to the Montana belt.
