Description

In the upper part, the shoots are densely leafy with simple, lanceolate leaves. These are 0.5 to 4.5 cm long and 10 mm wide. The round stem and twigs are bare or only in the upper part close-haired. The bright yellow flowers at the top of the shoots form clustered inflorescences 3 to 6 cm long. The flowers are 8 to 16 mm long and usually completely bare. Fruits - pods are 2 to 3 cm long and usually naked. It is a poisonous plant, but because it is rich in honey and its pollen is not poisonous, it is highly valued by beekeepers. In Slovenia, it is a common species that grows on very barren soils in sunny positions.
