Description
It has a creeping rhizome and a glandular hairy stem. It begins to grow in the spring, when the ovate leaves form an interesting funnel from which the flower stalk sprouts. Due to the abundance of nectar, it is pollinated by various insects, and it is often "attacked" by aphids, which are protected by ants. The flowering plant cannot be confused with any other orchid. The honey lip is deeply bipartite, the pistil long-stalked. It is a Eurasian species, with its center of distribution in the Mediterranean. It grows in thermophilic forest communities and among shrubs from the lowlands to the subalpine belt.
