Description
The trunk is strong and straight and has a gray bark that remains smooth for the first 20 years and then cracks in the vertical furrows. Crawn is bushy and dense and of regular shape. The leaves are alternate and simple, 7 to 14 cm long and 4 to 8 cm wide. They are divided into 5 to 8 leaf cloths. The leaves have a stalk about 1 cm long. The flowers are unisexual catkins, from which the fruits develop - acorns. Sessile oak's acorn is 2 to 3 cm long and measures 1 to 2 cm in diameter. The fruits are grouped with caps and grow in "clusters". They ripen in six months. Sessile oak thrives on well-drained and more rocky soils, after which it got its scientific name. Sessile oak wood is highly valued for the manufacture of beams, furniture, parquet, for the manufacture of vessels and barrels.
