Description
It is a prickly shrub with drooping, thorny branches and twigs. The leaves consist of 5 - 7 leaflets, which are glabrous, serrated and without glands. The leaf stalks have sickle spines. After flowering, the calyx leaves bend and fall off before the fruit ripens. The flowers are 3 - 5 cm large, pink with short necks. The fruits of the dog rose are red and egg-shaped. The dog rose grows along forest edges, paths and borders across Europe. The fruits of the dog rose are used in the diet to prepare jams and beverages. Due to its high content of vitamin C, it has been widely used in colds.
