Description
Widespread in acidophilic light forests, forest edges, clearings, forest fires, abandoned places. It grows from lowlands to subalpine areas, often over large areas. It has the ability to reproduce rapidly vegetatively and overgrows large areas in a short period of time. It is characterized by relatively large dimensions of the leaves. In cross section, the plant has the shape of a double-headed eagle, which is why it was named aquilinum. The spores on the underside of the leaves ripen at the end of the year. The leaf stalks are up to 1 cm thick, yellowish with a groove in the middle.
