Description
It is the most widespread representative of the primrose genus in Slovenia, known for its wrinkled, hairy leaves below and yellow flowers on bushy-haired flower stalks that grow from the rhizome. It grows in meadows and light forests, sometimes as early as late January, but certainly in early spring. Spring primrose is versatile in herbal cuisine. Young leaves and flowers are prepared in fresh salads. Slightly older leaves are cooked as vegetables in soups and condiments. Because they contain a lot of vitamin C, we put them in vitamin teas.
