Description
The characteristic flower has the shape of a bell and consists of three pointed outer leaves and three shorter twisted inner leaves. The leaves are ground and striate. They grow in early spring. It does not thrive on fertilized meadows or there are only individual specimens. They are found at the edges of the forest, in the woods and on meadows. They are very widespread along the banks of rivers and streams, but do not like standing water. They are also absent from the intermittent lakes in the Kras. Inland, they grow in the lower regions, in Gorenjska in the alpine valleys they do not exist. Further up to the sea, they grow up to 900 m above sea level.
