Description

The stem is branched. The leaves are heart-shaped and 4 to 8 cm long. The lower leaf surface is light green and the upper leaf surface is dark green and covered with hairs. On the leaf margin are bright and upward-facing spines. The flowers have 4 sepals that are greenish or reddish in color and open downwards. The four petals are dark red and twice as large as the sepals. On them lie bright yellow shoe-shaped leaves with nectar. The flowers have a diameter of about 1 cm. It thrives on sandy and loamy well-drained garden soils. It needs nutrient-rich soil. Older plants tolerate drought well. It thrives in partial shade and shade. It tolerates very low winter temperatures.
